Share
A share is a single unit of a company's stock. The number of shares you own divided by all shares outstanding is your percentage of ownership.
"Stock" and "shares" are often used interchangeably: you buy shares of a stock. Shares outstanding is the total held by all investors, including insiders.
A share's price alone says little about a company's size. A $10 share can belong to a bigger company than a $500 share if it has more shares outstanding.
