Ticker symbol
Also called: ticker, stock symbol
A ticker symbol is the short code of letters used to identify a stock on an exchange, like AAPL for Apple or TSLA for Tesla.
Tickers are unique within an exchange so traders can place orders without spelling out company names. They're usually written with a dollar sign on social media, like $AAPL.
